The concept of “Wellness” seems to be everywhere we look in travel- but what does that mean? Luxurious spas or minimalist boot camps? Or both? The one thing it does mean is that today’s world has made us Stressed, and we are all looking for a slice of Bliss!

 
 

And does it mean the same to everyone? Or even consistently look the same depending upon how you feel today, tomorrow, next month? A cooking class in France with friends to reconnect is quite different than spending time alone in a forest to center yourself. Both equally as important!

Since travel has re-opened, my clients #1 request is “I need a Sanity Check! Where should I go?”   Where do I go to disconnect, reconnect, recharge, or renew?  From collaborating with many clients on designing custom wellness trips to meet their goals, I have seen in the last year an authentic definition of Wellness Travel evolve as the concept is taking center stage in our precious free time.

The definition of Wellness Travel is taking the opportunity to get away to reboot the mind, body, or soul with the intention of Self-care. Self-care is not selfish. You can’t give service to others if your energy is low.   When you take moment to recharge you are full of positive vibes that benefits those around you too.

Self-care could mean a massage and a beautiful beach. Or meditation and green juices. (BTW- both great choices!)  But what I am seeing is that self-care means so much more that includes listening to your body, being present and taking care of yourself. Honestly, that is NOT so easy when you are at home and in your daily environment!

 Ultimately, we travel to be inspired. We want to connect, to relax, to give back, and to give in. Whatever the specific impulse, we’re all with the same goal of looking to feel better.
